justice through rural women’s leadership.
Through
empowerment of rural peasants and women workers in Sri Lanka, facilitate
and contribute in the efforts of rural women to redress their social,
economic, political, environmental and cultural issues in an organized
and sustainable manner.
The RWF has marched forward since 1988 empowering women of rural sector,
organizing them around their problems and building their own leadership
to solve them during the last 19 years.
Our Objectives
- Building
a strong rural women’s leadership which would be capable
of effectively addressing their identified issues through awareness
raising.
- Protecting
and promoting human rights of women engaged in sectors of agriculture,
labor, plantation, fisheries and migrant workers.

women representation in the main decision making bodies of the
country including parliament.
- Encouraging
women to engage in environmentally friendly pursuits, based on
local raw materials and thereby strengthening them economically.
- Providing
relief to people who suffer from natural disasters.

awareness among the community about environmental issues and conducting
various programs for the protection of environment.
- Organizing
children to good and useful citizens and at the while protecting
their rights.
- Documenting
and disseminating data regarding violation of rights in Sri Lanka,
thereby providing the people with correct information and pressuring
the authorities.
