Many of the women’s organizations operative at the time believed that women suffered in the home and outside it, due to male domination and strategies should be adopted to eliminate such harassments. Raising women’s awareness was dome based on that assumption.
The RWF of the opinion that women’s problems cropped up mainly due to poverty prevalent in the Sri Lankan rural sector, and that while women should work towards changing the oppressive social system, they should try to solve the specific women’s issues.
Accordingly Comrade Gamini Yapa initiated the theoretical guidance for women’s leadership. |
